What's funny is that in 1870, nobody would have cared about the fact that she was 17 years old when this image was photographed - they'd have been too fixated on her bare ankle. Today, the fact that she was 17 when this was shot meant that I had her mother at the shoot watching over my shoulder the whole time. Her mom had a sense of humor, too, and thought this was a fun shot.
