This is a scan of a unique glass-plate ambrotype. All chemistry is hand-mixed and poured and dipped, then the plate is exposed, developed and varnished. For more information about the process, here

I love how their faces are hidden in shadow. Somehow that makes it the subject for me--not what they are doing but who they might be.

Yeah, that was fun to arrange (with large format stuff like this, nothing happens by chance - I spend a lot of time talking things over with the models and setting everything up)
