Girl With Pink Bunny Earring by mjranum Girl With Pink Bunny Earring by mjranum
Model and makeup: :iconrubiacaea:

To clone Vermeer's lighting required a more elaborate approach than I usually use. I've posted an annotated photo of the lighting set-up here: [link]
There is hardly any photoshop post-work beyond dust speck removal.

We were giggling like a couple of kids the whole time we were setting this one up. :D

Too funny for words. My better half is into fine art (photography is her favorite medium) and so I've been dragged through many art galleries, watched a horde of art shows and paged through books and magazines. I actually like art but as soon as I saw it I started smiling. Thank you.

Purely by coincidence, I started talking to a friend the other day about art. Neither of us knew that the other was a huge art geek, so we had a fun conversation as we walked across campus. She's a big fan of the little Dutch masters, so we had a lot in common.

A couple of days later I showed her your picture of the pink bunny earring and she almost snorted her soda. I don't know which was funnier, the original picture or her reaction.

Anyway, I thought you'd get a kick out of that.

I really love Vermeers work and I think the original painting is stunning, but this is just as good. The little detail of the bunny-earing really makes this picture something worth remembering;)
Some people don't take it too nicely when someoby plays with their favourite piece of art, but I think it's fun and that it should be done more often:D

I'm just wondering if you'll ever do any Waterhouse work with your lovely red-haired model. I mean she seems perfect for it and your sand dunes work would suggest that shooting out of the studio and using a location as a backdrop is something that you're willing to do.

John William Waterhouse the Pre-Raphaelite painter. Your red haired model friend has a rather classical look about her and seems like she'd be natural in a recreation of one of his paintings. Of course depending on what piece you pick you might have to travel to a place that has architecture from the early part of the 20th century where they were trying to imitate ancient architecture.

Here are a few examples:

However, I think that there are probably a few closer to you.
