When I was a kid, my family spent our summers in France while my dad worked at the national archives. I spent a lot of time on my own, usually hanging out in museums, eating, or playing in one of the city's numerous parks. There are old faded movies of me at Les Tuileries, the big park behind the Louvre, playing with toy boats in one of the large fountains. There's an old "boat guy" who rents boats by the hour, and you could captain your own ship for a franc - the only thing that's changed is that the francs are now euros; the old boat guy is still there, just older.

and I had been planning a short Paris vacation for a while, so she brought this gorgeously glamourous gown and we made the shot. The little kid (who obviously liked the pretty girl!) reminded me so much of myself a lifetime ago.
